I got this shot of bald eagles that nested right on the northwest edge of Sioux Falls a couple of years ago. Female on nest at upper right, male roosting at lower left. The male brought food for the female and the two chicks. He caught a lot of rabbits and some ringneck pheasants.
One of the adults near the nest
The two chicks almost ready to fly

Number 2 from the top is a Tufted Titmouse. Number 3 is a flegling Kingbird learning to fly.

I posted this one on a different thread a few weeks ago. It’s a sparrow hawk that came in and snatched a sparrow off the ground feeding right outside the house. Just hope it doesn’t turn sideways when I post it.
Love watching and taking pictures of birds

I moved this here from another thread. Thanks Jerry for starting this.
I got a photo of this sharp shinned hawk in the tree across the street from my house this afternoon. I have seen sharp shinned hawks in this neighborhood before, right in the middle of Sioux Falls, making kills at or near our bird feeder. They are about 12-14 inches tail to beak, dark gray back, light gray front, yellow feet. In the past I have seen them kill sparrows, mourning doves, and a pigeon right on our front lawn. Sometimes I will find a pile of feathers on the front lawn, when I have not seen them, but you know the sharp shinned hawk has been there and killed. Today I heard their call for the first time as it was sitting in the tree, a loud "Keeeeeerrrrr" sound.

OC I have one that frequents my feeder in the spring as they are migrating through. I've seen him 2 different years. Saw him make a kill one time.
