All About Pocket Knives

I found this little yellow Camillus at an antique store, probably paid too much for it, $15.00, but just liked the thing.
Perhaps this should be in the question and answer section, but I can't find any info on it such as when it was made. I am to new to collecting to say what pattern it is exactly, but I am learning a lot reading this forum.

Looks like a 710Y. One of the Yello-Jaket series.
The MSRP from the Camillus web site earlier this year was $23.49.
I think they were all made with what Camillus called "High Carbon Stainless."
The first Catalog I have access to that has them in it is the 1990 catalog. I am not sure when the series started, but I don't see them in the 1984 catalog. So I suppose they started between 1984 & 1990. They were in the catalogs until 2007.

BTW, I forgot to add, nice little knife.
The blades look full & the side of the handle we can see looks good. It appears that the knife has hardly been used.
I can’t find any of this pattern on ebay, nor in the completed auctions either. Based on that and the good condition of your knife, I don’t think you paid too much.

The Yello-Jaket series were meant to be a working knife at a good price, not a fancy knife. Should you choose to carry this knife in your pocket & use it, I think you will be very pleased.

That is a nice little knife testcase. Warm to the site BTW. I am surprised that justold hasn't responded . He normally has some sort of esp for yellow knives. Must be distracted by the Schatts. s-k

smiling-knife my ESP is a little cloudy to day.

You are right I have a good case of the Schatts all day.
To go a long with it I have a tempture and a bad gut ack.
Just had crackers and chesse to eat and washed it down with 7 UP.

I think you did make a nice find their for $15.00 and no and SHIPPING fees....

Thanks for all the great info everyone, it does say 710 on the other side of the blade, never thought to mention that.... DUH as my kids would say!
It is actually in better condition that the picture shows, the bolster kind of looks pitted, but is really not, a few small scratchs that would buff out.
Both sides are in similar condition.
I don't know why but I have found these old yellow handled knives appealing.

testcase - the Camillus yello-jakets are cool

I had planned on starting a collection of yello-jakets after I finished building up my collection of Case yellow handles......

and then Camillus went out of business and now they are hard to find

I think if you find any of those patterns in good condition for under $30 you're doing good

TM Do you have or need any of these ?

They are 3137, 32087, 3254, 3220, 3318, and 31048.
