All About Pocket Knives

Here is a handmade knife I found in an antique store alone Route 66 in Missouri. Just wanted to share it with everyone.
The blade is carbon steel, 2 ¾ ins. and is scrolled alone the upper edge. The overall length is 6 ins. Has a stained hardwood handle with a silver end cap that I believe was fashioned from a coin or large metal washer. The leather sheath was made for me by a local saddle maker. He wanted to buy it from me, because it was a good knife to pull strips of leather, no sale.

Evidently you folks up in Ponder have an eye for a bargain and even more so for knives. That is pretty cool and made even better by the sheath. Great pick up. And a vote of confidence from the saddle maker as to the quality of the knife.

That sheath came out nice... a great way to carry and display that cool end cap!!!

Great little knife! Reminds me of one that Hackmann made back in the 1970's only theirs had a black composition handle.Wish I had a pic of one.

Here is a pic I grabbed from e-Bay.They were made in a couple different sizes.

Sweet!!! Blade, handle and especially the end cap make that one unique. I like the overall size of it too. Oh and the sheath looks sturdy & well made as well. Great pick up dlr110.

I am a little late to the conversation. Yes, my first thought was that your puukko was inspired by the Hackman Tapio Wirkala, now discontinued a few years. The craftsman did a top notch job; that is a very KNICE knife!

I like this one - especially that end cap!
Somewhere along the line, sooner rather than later, I’m making a knife. I don’t know what, yet, but I think I’ll get the kid to do the blade and I’ll make the handle. I’ll show you when I get there!
That’s just an all around awesome piece!

Very nice! Love the way the octagon handle becomes a star shape by adding those extra notches then the star shape becomes a flower by adding the silver work. Very cool.

I'm very sorry for taking so long to reply. No those are not initials, it's just how the metal shaped as it was hammered in and smoothed down to the finish.

cool knife ... I bet knowing the story behind it would be worth almost as much as the knife to you. Nice leatherwork on that sheath too
