Odd Case Knife Display

My daughter in law gave me this Case knife display. I'm not sure what this display originally housed but I would like to put something similar to what it originally had in it. It measures 10.5 High x 10 Wide x 10.25 Deep on the inside and has 9 little stands with 2 very strong magnets embedded in each of them. I'm thinking it may have been a display of fixed blades? The reason I'm guessing this is because if you put folders in it, even open folders, there is a lot of wasted height.

Anyone seen a display like this? Can you tell me what it had in it?

Thanks for looking and thanks for any help you can give.

The ones like it I have seen had folders. One open blade, pointed down. If like most other case displays the retailer could order it with whatever assortment of knives they want. So in theory it could have been either fixed blades or folders. Probably made so it could hold either, or both.

I've seen those before. They had Russlocks and Cheetah's in them. The blades were fully open and were pointing blade down. That's not to say you couldn't put other Case knives in there but those were the two types I saw. I think it's cool. ::nod::

Thanks so much for the info gents. It's 100% more info than I had earlier today!

I love Cheetahs, oops, swing guard lock backs I mean. See, two days on here and I learned something else :) I think I that is a great suggestion but as of now, I'm open for any other suggestions as well. Do you think this is maybe from the 80's or 90's? or newer than that?

Thanks for looking!

The “Mom and Pop” hardware store has one like that. They keep all of the expensive Case knives in it. The “everyday,” knives are kept in a separate case.

There is one at a small gasoline engine repair shop in my area (the owner collects and sells Case Knives) - his is full of Harley-Davidson Case commemoratives. OH
