I'm pretty sure this is NOT a $600 knife. Maybe an $60 knife and that is stretching it.

Me too! Since this guy is local, maybe I can offload the half-worn out WWI Canadian issue Wostenholm I have on him for about half what he wants for this (which is about 10 times what I paid).

Yep I think it is stretching it, as it looks like the main blade has been tipped and the blades seem to be riding high.

Talk about sucker hunting. I sell nice ones of those for $30. That isn't a Navy knife anyway. What a piece of work.

Ok, a bit off topic, but I got a Taylor fixed for Christmas and posted it in fixed blades. I can hardly find anything about the company.

There are literally thousands of those knives around especially in the UK absolutely nothing special about that knife. This knife is in poor if not distressed condition. The most valuable thing about this knife is it's location across the ocean from it's maker so with that taken in to consideration I would place a value of $10.00 on it.

Exactly. Being a common, if not ubiquitous military issue knife, hundreds of thousands (and maybe into the millions) have been produced. People think that because it's old, and associated with WWII (and I've seen tons from the WWII era), it's "VINTAGE RARE" (as with many listings that use that in caps) and automatically worth huge bucks; which really they're not; especially this beater.

I must be in the chips now. What I had thought was a modestly valued knife collection just jumped in value many times over. All those robust; utilitarian; bottom-of-the-shoebox sailor’s knives I have, handled in a material not found in nature....

In earlier times I’d say, “I’m in the green!”, but that color has a different connotation these days.

And, that settles it: from now on ALL MY KNIVES WILL BE DESCRIBED IN $$$$CAPS$$$.
