All About Pocket Knives

would like to know anything anybody could tell me about a 10 dot 1970 6220 that has a double pattern stamp— to the upper left directly above the 6220 is another 220 i have never saw this before i took it to a buddy that knows more than me and he hadnt either so i would appreciate any info on this also i would think that helps the value the knife is almost mint

However what you have described does not add value. The only “factory error” I know of that increases value is the Case Cheetah where a small number having an extra “1” in the pattern number were made and released before the mistake was caught. The others like yours are simply one-off curiosities.

But show us the pics anyway - you never know.

Normally blades are stamped in an O press, where the operator puts the blade, tang first on the fixture and then, while holding the blade, hits a foot switch which strikes the tang. Sometimes you get a double tap, or hit the switch before the tang is correctly seated on the fixture. Looks like someone forgot to throw that one in the reject pile. Still makes for an interesting conversation piece.

this remington. has a double stamp. on the can tool. none the main blades,only a circle on the punch.

Double stamps happen. Some collectors seek them out, others shun them. Either way, it is what it is. At least the knife has a tang stamp that lets you know what it is. I've got one that has nothing on it, absolutely no tang stamp whatsoever, even though it's obviously a Case knife.
