Humongous 11 inch Walden Pocket Knife

We got a very large pocket knife at an auction. We can't seem to find any information about it. Does anyone know about this knife? It is an 11 inch two blade pocket knife. When the blades are open it is 26.5 inches long. It is quite heavy and the body seems to be made of a dark hardwood. We are guessing it was a salesman sample or promotional display knife for a store. The smaller blade says:

Kari,
Yes it was a display knife put out by the New York Knife Company. It was hung by two bails (you're missing one but you can still see the hole in the bolster), usually in a store front or over the display counter.Nice snag, I've been looking for one of those for a while.

Thank you Eric !!!
Any idea what kind of time frame this would have been made? Value? We bought it in Placerville, ID for $75. This is a tiny town that was once a booming town during the gold rush. The store owner passed away and his belongings were sold. My husband had admired the knife during his entire childhood and finally got to purchase it. A real love story !!!

New York Knife Co was in business from 1856 to 1931. This is a great knife at a really nice price. Plus, a great story to go with it.
One of my very favorite brands. It was always a piece of cutlery of finest quality!

Kari,
That is a GREAT deal. I've seen those knives go for upwards of $700. At that price I'd say your husband inherited it rather than bought it

. Patience really does pay off!

Thanks guys. My husband couldn't believe I found a knife forum and that people actually respond. He was really excited to get this info.
He also informed me that I lied about the price. He actually paid $130.00
Thanks !!!

Even at $130.00 It was a steal. I have one, and had to give $750.00 for it. I saw two of them at the Tulsa gun show. One was priced at $2500.00 and the other was higer yet. NICE DEAL!!!

Rayban,
Just slide the skin off a front leg and sew the bottom together, should fit like a glove

Great knife!
If you post this in the Knife Lore Forum, I bet LT would be able to tell you more about it.
