Too many work Knives!!

First off let me say I am not a photographer. I just wanted to show my work knives I have accumulated after 41 years of working on equipment. Started out in 1978 with a brand new Schrade LB7 my late sister gave me as a graduation gift. After that I picked up a Buck 110. Then over the years if I saw a good work knife I would buy it for a backup. I guess it got out of control. The Gerber was a gift from a boss I had I never used the knife just the pliers on it. Well I don’t have to work out side anymore I can finally say I am retired. I will keep the knives for working up our Farm.
Since I have found this site I am starting to buy pocket knives. I have to say very addicting hobby.

The LB7 was first made toward the end of 1977. 1978 was the first year of full production. These early LB7's have 4 pins per side showing. The LB7 i see in the picture has 3 pins. The other big Schrade LB i think is a 7OT ? and it has 4 pins.
Can you show a picture of the 1978 LB7 ?

I always liked Schrade little did I know they would be collectables now. What can I say about the Bucks great knives for hard work.

Actually, that 4 pin 7OT is more rare than the 4 pin LB7.

This will make me sound stupid but I really did not pay attention to that. I have had these knives for a long time. When I purchased them it was for work. The LB7 4 pin and 7ot have been sharpened lots of times. The LB7 I just got back from Muskrat Man. He tighten her up for me. Those knives have been used hard, and I must say some abuse over their life time. They are good knives and they have a lot of sentimental value.

Nev52, there should be a serial number on the shoulder of the right front bolster of your LB7. What is this number ?

I don't know if it is a collection. Over the years it has become an accumulation. Until I found this web site I did not realize I had so many knives.

I had a drawer full of old pocket knives that had belonged to family members. There were quite a few knives in that drawer. One day I thought I should organize and store those old knives.......and a collector was born. That's how it works. You were collecting all along, you just didn't realize it until now. Welcome to the world of knife collecting.

I'm the same way; accumulated knives for years because I liked them and used them (longest I've had is a Western 66 that was a gift from my parents Christmas of 1967 or 68). I didn't become a "collector" until 2005 when I lost a Schrade USA 108OT that I had carried for about 20 or so years - went to buy another and found out they had moved to China - that started me collecting up every Schrade USA I could locate. Boy did that ever do it - been ruined since! OH

Old Hunter,
I did not know about Schrade selling until a couple years ago. When I had a 125ot in need of repair. I found this web site and contacted Muskrat Man, and he did a great repair on that old knife. After that I was hooked on this web site. I don't think I will ever be a collector. I like to use my knives too much.

Just because they're used doesn't mean they aren't a collection. I have as many used knives in my collection as mint...more actually. Mint knives are nice if you look at them as small investments and something to preserve but a used knife has a story to tell. If some of the older knives in my collection could talk, they'd have some interesting tales to tell. Just the feel of a well used knife in the hand is a collectable quality. IMHO.
