All About Pocket Knives

My dad found this Western L36 in the street several years ago. It had been run over several times and the handle was destroyed.

So he took everything apart and cleaned it up. He set it aside as he did not know what handle material he wanted to use.

Fast forward to this past summer. He was walking their dog at the park. When the dog sniffed out a dear antler dog treat. My dad looked at it and figured it was just about perfect for the handle.

Anyhow this is the results along with a sheath he made. My son is now the proud owner of this knife.

Yes he did a great job. My son really appreciates knives. My dad gave him over 40 knives last year. There are a few others that he re handled and made sheaths for. My son also has my dads first knife that he got when he was 3. A tiny little thing that knife.

Your dad did nice work on that knife!
Those are one of my favorite knives to fix because they're such good quality knives.

I am impressed with the work; he picked a good one to work on. I hope your Dad's work is documented and handed down in the family for at least a few more generations. A question was asked about the reason for the bifurcated tang and I am not sure I know why either. ?

Yes he wrote down everything he remembers from each knife. Some were his fathers and Uncle. Most were just ones he accumulated over time. So the history of them will not be lost.

That's what I'm talkin' about!!

Great outcome for a knife that some might have discarded as trash.
