Beauty is in the eye of the beholder for sure. Someone put a lot of time and effort putting the grips on this Buffalo and maybe it suited their purposes, but did they improve or destroy its value?

Well it may have been just right for the modifier but it is now designated as a user only.IMO

Two things:
1. Ouch
2. Why is it now for sale?

Modified - yes, ruined - yes. JMO.

I'm sure the original modifier was perfectly happy with it. There are many knives out there like this. Personalized to the owner and not the collector. Funny the seller makes no mention of the knife being modified.

I agree, both modified and ruined. It is one thing to do something like this for your own use, but to sell it and think everyone or anyone would want a knife that has been modified like this?? Sometimes people do things they regret later. Maybe the knife was damaged and modifying it removed the damaged area. Hard to say.

Modified, I'm sure the original owner had his reasons. He has likely passed on or grew tired of it and traded it away and hence now it is in circulation. At the time of the modification I bet he thought he would never part with it, and may not have until his death.

Muskrat man nailed it. I sometimes modify my users. But that one is not to my tastes. Lol!

There are only 13 of these Buck knives ever made. The other 12 are worth more than mine. (I added a sharpening Choil and thumb notches) But I enjoy useing
mine!
