All About Pocket Knives

I picked this EC Simmons up a few weeks ago with an old Camillus 42. I did not give it much thought until today. It is a small Sleaveboard 2-5/8 long.

Any Idea of the actual manufacturer and time frame? Also what is the scale material Celluloid?

The blades are in pretty good shape and took a keen edge.

Handles are mother-of-pearl. Can't tell much else. Better pictures would help.

Much better. I worked on them a little - definitely pearl handkes. Maybe someone will recognize the maker.

Keen Kutter early knife. Probably was etched when new.

Harold is correct.Likely was etched "Keen Kutter" in fancy script.

Does "early" mean before 1900 ?

The Federal Shield became common after 1920. The small bolsters are indicative of late 1920s / early 1930s, I think.

E.C. Simmons was a hardware store. "Keen Kutter" was their "top-of-the-line" brand, while their "E.C. Simmons" brand was a secondary brand (supposedly). Although I think they rolled out of the same factory in Walden in that time period, I believe.

That's my initial thoughts - I could be wrong.
