Telecom Work Related Fixed Blade Knife

During my career with Ma Bell, besides my EDC, which was usually a cheap, foreign made pocket knife, I carried
this knife along with snips (special scissors) in a two slotted, leather sheath. The knife was used to open telephone
cable to get access to the pairs of wires inside the cable. This one is in MINT condition. I broke (my fault) and or
lost many, many, many of these over the years. It is a great little knife. It measures 6 1/4" total. The handle is
made of a hard rubber or rubber-like substance.

Probably your set was something like the one below ($44 at Home Depot). A really useful pair of tools in the telecom world of twisted pairs. I wonder how many modern professions (besides surgeons and professional carvers) have a dedicated knife? I can't think of any... you?

Yes, mine looked almost identical. Modern professionals who carrying? Maybe EMTs, Firefighters, Military, Law Enforcement, etc.?

That looks like it will also be a great whittling knife. Been considering getting one myself for the heck of it, provided a local mining/industrial supply place here actually stocks the Klein one.
I think the strap cutter could also be called a "dedicated knife"; specifically designed to remove gear and clothing from a patient. But they also get into clam pack like nothing else. In fact, I keep a Benchmade 8 hook in my desk just for that.

I don’t have a specially designed knife but I use my pocket knife constantly at work.
Some of the things I use it for are; général cutting, especially strapping for skids, cutting down 48X48 inch bins, scoring boards so I can snap them, scoring heavy cardboard strips to snap off for edgeing and cutting wraps off stored, stock, chairs. My knife is one of my most used tools and lives in my pocket at all times.

That little knife does look handy.
An hvac guy would have a Duct knife.

Most of the time that I used mine, I had some sort of gloves on to
protect my hands. Mainly the pair below.
