Kabar Age?

Postby A&E » Mon Dec 10, 2018 3:02 am

Anyone have any idea on the age of this Kabar? I think the handles are delrin but someone said staglon the other day when they were looking at it. Any ideas?

I believe KA-BAR changed the mark to Kabar sometime in the mid 1950's so it isn't any older than that. I believe it is a model 1184.I bought one in the late 1970's and it looks pretty much identical. Not sure if they still produce them though.

Maybe a little "wonky" for you, but my understand is that Staglon is Delrin that has been cut and dyed to approximate the look of stag. So technically it's Delrin. As far as I know, the name "Staglon" and the process for making it was invented by Schrade. https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/dup ... ch.439751/

Not sure what Kabar called their version of similar handles?
