All About Pocket Knives

Hello All:
Just joined today and have been perusing the various forums.Thought I would do an intro before I forget(something I do a lot of lately).
I found out about this forum while reading a post on Blade Forums regarding a multi-blade Case knife.
Name is Ray Smith and I'm a Knifeaholic...(oops;wrong forum!).Actually I'm a 63 year old semi-retired sign artist/pinstriper who grew up in Massachusetts and migrated to Southeast Michigan about 14 years ago.Married(again;this time to the girl I should have married in 1965)with 3 kids and 5 grandchildren and a 15 year old puppy.
Been collecting knives since I was 10 and still have the first knife I ever bought;although it was MIA for about 25 years.Long story.Being a collector rather than a dealer,I have accumulated more than a few knives.
I got back into collecting about 5 years ago after a long hiatus when I came upon a beautiful Joseph Rodgers spear point bowie/hunter in an antique shop for VERY reasonable money.That and the evil E-Bay has conspired to feed my addiction.
I retired a year ago February and for some reason my business has taken off to the point where I find very little time to feed my hobby/addiction.I also host several Yahoo groups of various types and yes one devoted to knives.It unfortunately hasn't seen too much action of late.In case anyone is interested it is called,"Knife Knuts Aknonymous"(what else?).Some of my collection is posted on there.I also created one called "Vintage Letter Openers" but that has seen even less traffic. Not a problem as I really don't have the time to fully maintain them.
Anyway this is getting long and I have to drive about 60 miles to a job in the morning(striping and lettering a 1935 Ford truck)so I will cut this short. Look forward to participating on the forum.Thank you for your time.

Well I am soon to be 59, Nov 29th and I too am starting to understand.

I forget what I had for dinner the next day....

I think you will fit right in here and even have some fun.

Stop in when you can and give us some of your old memory's before you forget them all....

Welcome Ray, I'm sure You'll enjoy AAPK.

Thank you for the warm welcome and the kind words.I shall endeavor to post some of my prize pieces in the appropriate forums.

On top of everything else,I am in the process of writing outlines for a couple of books I would like to publish.I have written two books already but hesitated to publish them as they were a bit too personal and were written when I was going through some life changes.

These will be a bit more light-hearted.One is on(what else?)my experiences with knives and the other a treatise on my chosen profession aka "profitable hobby" of pinstriping. I really haven't done too much with either one for several months but with the coming of the winter that may change.

Here's a picture of the knife that got me back into collecting.Squares are 1".

Ray welcome to AAPK Seems like a lot of Michigan knifeaholics are attracted to this site. Maybe we could set up meetings once a week, you know knid of like AA. We could talk about our addiction and how much we've spent and then show each other our closet queens and try to explain why we just had to have it. It would be therapeutic in a way. I live over here in Dundee, directly across from Cabela's.

Didn't get a pic of the 35(he's supposed to send me a couple)but if no one objects to the off topic pic,this is my 1955 Pontiac Safari that I've owned since 1994 and have driven over 165,000 miles.It is currently in my garage awaiting the infusion of a new transmission(when I get the $2,000 to fix it).

Hey if they do we will redo it in off topic right above this one. Neat old Pony. Keepem coming.
