I know this is not an original 4466 obviously - is it a later reproduction ? - has the stamp been modified - The story is as some of you know my dad was a Remington collector , he gave me this knife for EDC about 5 or 6 years ago (maybe more) - I think he bought it on line (?) told me it was only good for carry - I still carry it some and actually like the knife. Any info or opinions welcome - thanks - you guys educate me all the time just by browsing through this forum -- Clint

Stamps are bad, pattern#'s stamped singularly.Should have stag handles and a bullet shield.Your dad gave you good advice, put in your pocket and use it.

The pattern number has been cold stamped. In my opinion the repro R4466 made in 1988 are great carry knives and Roger gifted me one that has been rehandled with stag. I like carrying it.

I agree with both of you - but just raises questions - why would someone cold stamp and not even finish the forgery with shield and proper handles - what knife did they start with - etc -- thanks

The answer to that is that poor counterfeits like this are produced to fool the uneducated collectors. Fool the fools in other words. The educated collectors will not pay the money the counterfeiters hope to get with such knives.
