I recently got this knife in, it is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. Would anyone know who made it or how old it is? Its extremely tight with no gaps, extremely dense. Got it for a song as well so that's always great and makes the search rewarding.

Really nice Barlow PD

... a few companies made knives for Shapleigh including Empire, Schrade and I think a few others... I really don’t know who made it (will check Col Mayes book when I can as there is a major list of Empire made Shapleighs) but maybe one of the Shapleigh collectors can also chime in as maybe Empire is a long shot....

Pin placement, style and angle of sawcut, general machining aspects...I'm guessing that's a Schrade. Not sure enough about the Shapleigh name/stamp usage to help date it (also not too knowledgeable about Schrade's dating, either).

I agree with you Tony!! Among the things you noted the bolster looks like a great match
