Sperry & Alexander N.Y. --- 1893-1927 --- Importer --- A "Centaur" is stamped on larger knives. See elsewhere.
S & A, N.Y., Germany, on main sheepsfoot.
S & A, N.Y., on secondary pen. Just shy of 2 7/16". The shield is a mere 13/32" and pined.
This is a solid and serious knife. Strong action on blades with half stops on both blades.
Nickel silver pins and liners. Pinched bolsters.
A little charmer!

Thanks for looking.

I think I saw that or its brother, on Ebay recently.

I almost bid on it.

Beautiful, elegant little gem of a knife. ::tu::

We have a Sperry & Alexander collector lurking around here somewhere. ::paranoid::

Another beauty of a S&A Congress Dimitri ::tu:: ... sweet bone and I really like the sheep foot blade!!!

Sperry & Alexander had some nice knives - but if I understand they were a wholesaler in NY and not a Mfg.. Given that I wonder who made their knives?? They seem to be well made and somewhat rare but S&A only was around from early 1890s until the 1920s...

I don’t have one but here’s a catalog cut of a nice S&A easy opener jack :) ....

Thanks Lee.
I don't know if any S&A were made in USA but certainly in Germany.

I wanted to show that this little gem came with a pouch. :)

Nice examples of Sperry & Alexander knives, Joe and Dimitri!!
Allow me to add one to the thread; this one may not be as early as your two examples, and I think it is a Schrade Cut Co contract knife. 3 1/2" long both blades are marked S.&A.CO. (over) NEW YORK.

Lovely knife Charlie ::tu:: ::tu:: ... and that answers one question regarding at least one other maker (Schrade) of their knives :) ...

Thanks Joe, Lee and Dimitri!
Many of us have gotten nice old knives from Mike (galvanic) and that S & A is one of them!
I am curious as to who else collects those S & As?

I echo Charlie - Lyle needs a S&A FJ - or for that matter any FJ... I’m letting out the FJ sniffing blood hounds for the hunt :D ....
