Estwing hatchet leather handle question

I have a Behring made with a scagel type handle. I'd love to have a hatchet to somewhat match it. Behring hatchets look to set you back about $700, so I thought of the estwing. Has anyone ever done any leather handle work on them, enough to tell me if you could modify it to have a stag butt about half way up the handle? Not sure if the Tang is long enough mostly. I know this is more of an embellishment and not exactly necessary, but would like the wow factor of having it match the knife. Thanks in advance for any help

I believe muskrat man has done handle work on those before.

What you desire can be done, it is not easy and a bit of work but completely feasible ::tu::

Thanks a bunch for your input. Sounds like a lot of work just for looks. Think I'll just stick to it the way it is. Works just fine without the stag butt.
