Marked Solingen M.I. Germany. Research shows some people saying the M.I. stands for Military Issue I don't believe this is correct. What sounds more likely is that it is abbreviation for " Made In ".

Outkast, you lit the fire before when I saw your collection. So now it is just a matter of time. I have my eye out for one. Hubertus sure seem like a good one. Be patient doglegg, be patient.
Of course you have the most fantastic collection I have ever seen of shell pullers. And you're ::nod:: ::nod:: getting more! I enjoy seeing them. Thanks.

OK, may be a dumb question but -- why is this style called "shell puller?"

Fantastic collection!

Shell pullers are made to extract the hot shotgun shells from guns that do not auto eject the shells.

The old paper shells were bad about swelling up and therefore hard to eject. And some old shot guns did not eject but only lifted them, hence a shell puller was found useful. Can tell it is an older issue as the pullers are usually in 12 ga and 16 ga . But I would still like to have at least one. ::nod::
