Here is a well used 6240 that is really drawing some interest from bidders. These must really be getting rare.

Blades look a little rough to me Greg. Of course I know nothing about collector value.

Yeah that's what I mean. Pretty rough knife to be garnering that kind of interest.

Pretty sure secondary should be a Spey not a spear.
Not the only thing I don’t like about that knife. Just doesn’t “feel” right to me.

Some came with a pen but that one looks odd.

That's the kind of knife that you need to find a the flea market! I looked it up, if it was mint it would be a real prize and it shows both a spey and a pen were made. Still a great old knife even if someone messed up the blade.

I was thinking the same thing as soon as I saw it. I wonder if it was replaced or something.

Here's another one that R.Davies has up for bid the pen blade look the same. They came with a pen or a long spey.

Hmmm. My friend if that is the case why are the nail nick location not the same. The OP and the the example you posted are on opposite sides. I know the older CASE knives had a big old pen that looked like a spear based on size but I don’t believe this to be the case on this OP knife.
The pen blade “secondary blade” on the OP knife is way longer obviously. That is either an altered knife or a reprofiled Spey at the very least.
That knife is not right in my opinion.

I believe you're right Jerry it may well be a reprofiled spey.

The OP knife does not look original to me.
However I believe either a pen blade or spey blade secondary would be appropriate. Here is a link to one of Tom olderdogs posts which shows a WR Case & Sons 6240 with a pen secondary.

This link shows a Tested XX 6240 in a group shot that has the large spey blade.

Yes that definitely looks to be the case on the OP, a reprofiled spey blade on an overall rough looking knife. That was actually the point of the post. I was surprised that there was so much bidder interest here.

Agreed Greg. Did not catch that as far as modified/ reprofiled in your posts. My bad.
