What makes a knife a doctors knife? I know they used to do bloodletting. Shape of blades?

The knife usually referred to as a Doctor's knife is a spear-bladed slim jack with a butt cap, often having a spatula or a pen blade as a secondary. This Remington has a real spring steel spatula, for mixing salves and medicines. The butt cap is for crushing pills. I have to guard it, or my wife will steal it for a palette knife!
Pocket "surgery" tools, scalpels and such are a somewhat different category, but still doctors' knives.
