I have just joined this great site and would appreciate any info on Cotton Sampler knives produced by Bulldog. I'm interested in years produced, handle material, values. None of my reference books mention this style at all. Thanks

Hey there gunnflowers welcome to AAPK..I believe that Bulldog made most of the Cotton Samplers around 1996, at least the ones I have owned.

I have seen them in Stag, Pearl and a few color variations of celluloid/plastic. They also make something called a Lil sampler that looks nothing like the original cotton sampler knife that is marketed as a cotton sampler with celluloid handles.

The cotton samplers started in 1996, I believe in the fourth generation. The first (1978-1987), second ( really manufactured from left over first generation parts in 1991 and 1992), and third generation are fairly well covered if you know how to read Jim Parker's books, second generation are buried in there with the first and given a BKC number that has a letter following the number. For example a BKC 403 is a first generation canoe but BKC 403A is a second generation.

The fourth and fifth generations are poorly covered and many knives are not mentioned in the books.

As far as I know you would have to put a collection together, I know of no books that cover the 4th and 5th genertions well.

WELL just jump in and bid on her....

I can under stand your feeling of remorse in selling the one I have now.

Some times it hard to let go of things you have feeling for.

Just to let you know SHE is happy with her new friends in my show case.

hi guys The pearl handle cotton sampler on ebay is what started all questions about these knives. I think that the starting bid is to high maybe thats why it does not have a bid . gunnflowers

jonet143 OK that is you so I won't bid on it now.

I was hoping no one would bid and I was going to wait until the end and bid on her too.

One low cost one high cost then I would have 2 at ADVRAGE COST...

The Pearl seem to be harder to find....as Sunburst said... ::nod::

beautiful
