Well I finally purchased me a 23. It was an advertising knife. Short line tang stamp which is 1946-50 I believe. It came in and I was really impressed with the size and I love Camillus quality but I did not like the scales at all. Well I took time today to change the old faded yellow advertising scales to some Wild Cherry Worm Groove bone. Please let me know what you think.

I think that turned out real nice. I like the way the edges of the handles push right up against the bolsters, there's no gap. Very well done. I would, however, recommend wearing pants if you wish to be in the pictures.

A big improvement. And a quality job no matter what you had or didn't have on. Great work.

Generally I’m not a fan of that jigging pattern, but you nailed it with the installation getting those ridges in exactly the right places and perfectly matched.
Well done!

Thank you Dale. I did not know if I was going to like the worm groove myself. I have to say I do like it and the more I handle it the more I like it. I have really fell in love with the 23 pattern also. I will be on the look out for more to add to my accumulation pile. The size of the 23 is the reason I think the worm groove works so well. A smaller more narrow pattern I don’t know if It could pull off the worm groove or not. Thanks again for your input it is always greatly appreciated.

I imagine it does, especially during the Summer months. And very nice work on those handles. The one thing that that really gets under my skin are gaps between the handle and bolster. Yours turned out very well, I can see no space in between. That's precision. Nicely done Sir.

I think your knife looks great. Very nice work.
Here's a short line 23 like yours in smooth bone and a long line in canvas Micarta.
These 23s are hard to beat.

Ed, that knife is great. You better watch it. You keep posting pictures of your work and you'll have more work than you have time for. I think I'll gather up a few projects for you. Great job.

Thank you very much for the accolades. I am very happy with the way it turned out. I took the picture of my Bermuda shorts and legs off so I wouldn’t scar anyone but Mike for life. Lol

Transforming a old neglected piece of cutlery history always makes me happy. I really enjoy all the comments and thoughts from my friends here at AAPK.
