So here is a knife I'm not sure will get any love on this forum but I like it for the simple fact that it is one of the only hand made/fitted knives I own. You can tell it's hand made because you can see the file marks! It also has a wonky bevel so you know that's handmade quality at its finest. ::tounge:: The blade is etched "Old Smoky" on one side and "Stainless Pakistan" on the other. About a 7" blade, 11" overall. And you gotta love that chintzy, cheap leather they used with the cheap plastic band thread...classic 80's Pakistan! I think the green/red laminated wood scales are actually pretty with the brass pommel and handgaurd though.

Sad fact is that I probably paid more for this knife than any other estate sale knives in my short year or two of buying em. (And that was a whopping 10 bucks...yikes!)

From what I've read these knives were bottom of the barrel in quality and I've heard alot of disparaging comments about the quality of the steel. I can say that I've used it to practice my sharpening skills and the nice polish it had when i got it is looong gone! I don't know if it will keep an edge for any appreciable amount of time under use as I've never really used it, but at least it took an edge so there's that.

10 bucks for that doesn't seem to bad to me.

I usually don't buy things that say Pakistan, but on occasion one will catch my eye as this one obviously did yours. My $10 dollars would have probably been gone too. ::tu::

I started in on Copenhagen chewing tobacco in the mid 1960s @ 8 cents a can. When it went to 12 cents I said "That's it; I'm through!" Well 43 years later I quit at somewhere around $4 to $6 a can and I was doing a can and a half a day. That was 11 years ago and I am grateful to be shed of it and putting that money into knives.
