I BOUGHT THE KNIFE I WAS TALKING ABOUT EARLIER. IM STILL CONFUSED ABOUT SOME OF THE MAKER MARKS. IT DOES HAVE THE STARS ON THE HANDLES. IT DOES NOT SAY U.S.A. IT JUST SAYS CASE XX KODIAK. LONG LINE UNDER CASE. ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE BOX IT SAYS CASE XX W.R. CASE & SONS CUTLERY CO. BUT ON THE END OF THE BOX IT SAYS CASE TESTED XX. THE SIDE OF THE BOX SAYS 1997. SO WE KNOW NOW WHEN IT WAS MADE. BUT MY QUESTION IS, WAS THIS A SPECIAL ISSUE KODIAK SINCE IT SAYS CASE TESTED XX? OR DO ALL OF THEM SAY THAT. I HAVEN'T SEEN ANY ON E-BAY THAT SAY THIS. THIS SHOULD BE MORE RARE? AND LESS OF THEM MADE? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!! I'VE INCLUDED A PICTURE THIS TIME.

the 1976 romance guide(mrs dewey p. ferguson) describes the three versions of kodiac thru 1976. yours appears to be newer than that. the sheath is a modern version. i think if it was other than normal production it would be etched or the box would have the information.
it's a great knife.

ok, i see now it's a 1997.

Keep in mind-boxes can be switched for many reasons but, and I'm guessing here, that Kodiak sounds just like mine and it is nothing special other then it is one beautiful knife from one end to the other.
I have no specific info on the 97's.
The close up photo would help though.
