Some may find this interesting. I have a RCC NAVY MK2 that is in sorry shape. So I'm trying to say the old gal. Bought the handle kit from KaBar and rigged this jig to compress the handle.

eveled,
Apparently you can chew gum and walk. ::poke:: That is pretty sharp, a bench vice, 4 C clamps and a few pieces of wood. Show some more pictures as you finish the project. ::tu::
This needs to be in the Knife Repair and Restoration thread.

Me too.... very interested to see the end result and more info .... do you wet the leather before compression?

I found I had to add a spacer between the clamps on the blade end. The ricasso was being pinched by the pads on the c clamps. You want it to be free to slide.

It really was not hard to set up. I put the smaller clamps down low on the big clamps to hold it together if I had to move it from the vise. Then when back in the vise I moved the small clamps back.

I really did not mean it to be a handle tutorial. There are a lot of good ones on you tube. I just wanted to show an alternate vise set up.

But I will gladly answer any questions. They are not wet just glued with Carpenters glue.

I am extremely impressed! Looks like factory work to me. I bet you will get a few more years out of the old gal too. :D
