Does anyone besides me think this knife has been recovered?
Tell me I'm wrong.

I don't know if it has been rehandled but it is a great looking knife.

Can't help you Joe, I do see what you mean from the photos? Really like it though.

I'm certainly no expert but for me, the handles don't match the rest of the knife. I would think for it's age and usage, the handles would look a bit more worn down or smoother without the high ridges.
Even if the blades weren't used much, I think the handles should show a little more "sheath" or "pocket wear" and I just don't see that.

I don't know enough about Westerns to answer your question, but it sure is a good looking knife.

Joe, you’d know way more about it than I would. But to ME, those don’t look like the kind of covers you’d see on Weatern, especially a Western USA knife. Even if it were a Boulder era Western I’d still be suspicious. Might see something like those in the Western States era. But I think it’s been redone.
Still a fantastic looking knife, and I’d be proud to own it.
Now I hope an expert comes along and tells me how wrong I am.

Thanks guys, I sure appreciate all of your remarks.
These covers are of a red hew and that makes me think they are an aftermarket purchase.
The pins are peened and I think this knife is too young for that work. The book "The Knife Makers Who Went West"
by Harvey Platts puts this tang stamp at 1961.
So I'm going with recovered. Thank the Lord someone got rid of the Delrin!
This knife is hardly used. It's a fine knife and I'm glad to have it.
Thank for all the insightful input and I'm glad you all liked the knife.

My opinion is that it has been rehandled, but a real nice job. good looking 62! But I'm no expert, just my opinion.
