All About Pocket Knives

Hi guys ,I picked up this old MOP swell belly whittler recently but I can't make out the stamps it looks late Victorian ? Both small blades have half stops and the main blade has lovely swedges on both sides,sorry for poor stamp pics but my phone's macro isn't very good ,thanks for any Help

I can't read the tang stamps either but based on the design, specifically the long bolsters it appears to be German in origin.

In the meantime the top line is either Warranted or Sheffield, second line is Cutlery.

I'll try clearer pics but my phone's close ups not very good ,above cutlery it looks like celebrated ? Tbh even clearer pics it's hard to make out

There was a 'Celebrate' Cutlery Co.trademark in Germany back 1895 -1927 but your mark definitely ends with [ted]

Zed: One tip I can give you is to hold your phone farther away, but then use the phone's zoom feature to make the detail bigger.

How about United cutlery co Germany ?

I have seen old small lower end pen knives marked only "Sheffield Cutlery", no country. Discussion years ago on BF yielded no information as to where or when knives with this marking were made. Could even be from India. They like to use the word "Sheffield", or at least they did in the past. I am not saying this knife is from India. It could have been made anywhere.
Might this be "Sheffield Cutlery" ?

I really don't think this is from India as I've had enough late 1800's pocket knives to know this is from that era or early 1900's, this was a quality made knife from I would day Germany ,here ate a few better stamp pics

This stamping is deep yet unclear as to what the characters are. Was it readable when new ? Perhaps not because it was a poorly made or worn down stamping die ?
It does not look like a quality knife based on the pearl being white and not refractive of light, and the shield being inset at an angle.

Oh well I like it even if it's a poor quality knife,only paid £1 for it and tbh Its a nice looking knife,I buy because I like them not to make money,although I'm sure I could 're sell this for more than a £ lol

Looks like it says,"celebrated cutlery" but no maker's name. I don't believe it is German as the pivot pin is nickel silver rater than steel as in most German knives of that era.Did you look on the back of the tang to see if there may have been either lettering or a figural? I have a 4 blade knife marked simply "silver steel" on the tang and the figure of an owl on the back side.Still haven't found out who made it.
The celebrated cutlery stamp on English knives seems to date to about the 1880's or slightly further.JMHO

I often get as much satisfaction from a very inexpensive knife as i do from an expensive one. Saying "low end" simply means it started out as an inexpensive knife and at times might be of slight help in ID'ing the maker or of ruling out certain makers. It is no reflection on how it makes you feel.
