I did not look at the knife because I wouldn't know much about it even if I did BUT I do know there were Kabar-CASE contract knives made at one time.
I think, for whatever that is worth, you could find some info on them in Knives and Razors...or try Googling them up.

I believe the handles from a KA-BAR have been placed on a Case blade.
You can see the marks on the handle where it was braded down.

Looks like a home made guard as well. I'm no expert but that looks a lot like scrap aluminum .

i don't think it's a counterfiet, just cobbled together.

not counterfiet, just an old modification. looks like someone reground an old case butcher knife blade, made a guard, and slapped on a handle from a ka-bar that they probably had laying around with a worn out blade or such.

Songsingingman here this really did start out as a kitchen knife. I have
the same one I bought several years back used. It has the same funny shaped blade but the handle is a dark brown wood with 2 rivets. I think
it's from the early 80's or late 7o's. It's one of case's kitchen line and thats for sure not the handle it came with. I'll dig it out and take a picture
of it.

Hey Fellows,
Here's the picture of the kitchen knife that I have. It says casexx
chromiun on the blade but the handles are black instead of brown with 3 riverts. I guess I'm slippin in my old age.
