All About Pocket Knives

Just picked this up at the P.O. via Ebay. This knife is in the condition you always hope for when you buy an old slippie; Nearly original, it has most of the factory finish on it. Someone scratched up the pen blade front, trying to remove some specks I guess, and sharpened it some, but most of the glazed finish remains on the back of both blades, and some on the front of the pen. The main blade has nearly all the crocus polish, with just some blade rub. Virtually no pocket wear on the peach seed bone handles. Just some tarnish on the bolsters and shield. Blades tight, and snap like new.
Honest patina, I had the Blue Magic on my cloth to polish it up when I thought "What the hell am I doing??".
So I oiled the joints, and rubbed some mineral oil on the bone and blades, and stopped there!
As found and aging gracefully, this knife is as the fine cutlers at Schrade Cut. Co. intended it to be about 60 years ago!!

They really don't get any better than that!

I find myself with that dilema often. Of course, my pieces rarely look as nice as yours.

So when you look thru my collection, you will find many "used" knives, with patina, scratches, etc. in tact. Corrosion halted, that's about it.

To do otherwise might anger the knife gods...

I'm ever grateful there are people here who share my attitude. More and more, I appreciate un-cleaned knives.
There is no reason to polish this knife, IMO.
