All About Pocket Knives

I think the #23 and #73 patterns are 2 of the best traditional knife patterns, period. These patterns were first made (in USA at least) by Remington. The flush & square joints give the knife a clean and classy appearance.
I recently received 2 of the #73 pattern from 2007, a Northfield with Snakewood handles and a Tidioute with Chocolate Bone handles. These 73's also have end caps which further enhance the good looks of these already most attractive knives.
Except for the 2006 Burnt Stag 73's, i think the 73's with end caps are the best looking of all the 73 releases. I think they were only made in 2007.
If you have any 73's with end caps please post pictures. If you don't have any with end caps you can post your opinion of this pattern with and without end caps, which do you prefer.

The 73's certainly are a beautiful pattern, I don't own any but wish I did. Those two examples of yours above are real beauties, as is the stag version. To my eye though the smooth wood handle with the end cap is the most attractive, very classy looking.

I could not find the flat bolster example.
Having now seen the pictures, i want an ivory #23 and a mammoth #73 but i bet those who own them are keeping them.

The 2011 ""FLAT BOLSTER"" pattern in Stag is the first photo above** -- I have a Flat Bolster that I had re-handled in Mammouth Ivory -- third knife from top of photos below -- all these were re-handled by Muskrat Man

Here is an abalone version. These two and maybe twenty other GECs are available.

Thanks for these pics monk & TR. There are many more of these knives with caps than i knew of. I need deeper pockets . The abalone handles i bet only made it on to a few knives.

I think the end capped 73s are some of the best looking knives GEC has made. The ones with flat & faceted end caps especially get my motor running.

Thanks for posting these 2 with 'fancy' caps. What year were these made ? I will be on the look out for one of these.

Wow, great #73's being posted here. I think the ones with end caps really stand out. They make the knife look more finished somehow. Thanks for the pictures.

Beautiful wood on your 73 !
I think wood with interesting grain or no visible grain as in old black ebony, makes for some of the most attractive and most durable handles. Stag, bone, pearl & ivory are all more likely to crack or a have a missing chip.

Pics don’t do this one justice. Looks much better in hand. I looked for one of these for two years before I found this one.

I'm thinking if Ken Daniels signed your COA there may be others of that ilk lurking about!
