All About Pocket Knives

Here's one I cobbled together about a month ago, before my back started causing me so much grief. I haven't even been in the shop for about 3 weeks now.

At any rate, it feels good in the hand, but it's got little "hickeys" all over it - It would definitely be a "second string" knife, cosmetically. ( I told you I was rusty, in the shop ! )

3/16" 440-C, tapered tang
Black Micarta
Stainless Guard and Pins
4" Blade / 8 1/2" overall

Aw, shucks guys... I appreciate the compliments, sincerely. But that's not a knife to show off. It's a good working knife (skin a buck, or run a trot-line), and will probably last forever. I'll do better, if I....no, WHEN I get back in the shop.

I guess it's a $40 knife - that's what I just sold it for, this morning. Neway, thanks, I hope to post some more.

Marcinek - I don't mean to toot the Razorback horn, but have you looked at the knifemakers here in Arkansas ? Jerry Fisk, down in Nashville (AR) is, I think, the only designated National Living Treasure. Lin Rhea, in Prattsville has only been making for a coupla years, but you ought to see his work. Lee Ferguson, Cliff Polk, Pat Crawford - the woods are full of knifemakers, around here.

Isn't Tom Krein from AR as well?

Ringmaster, talking about the good knife makers out of Arkansas, made me think of the late Jimmy Lile. I went to ebay and to my surprise I found a Lile knock-off made in China a 7 star company Jimmy Lile knife. What next?

JR...I didn't mean to imply you and Bob Dozier were the only good knife makers in Arkasnsas! There's a ton of 'em.

I'm just saying the rest of those fellas better watch out!

Especially if you are selling that 3/16" 440C 4" Black Micarta beauty for 40 bucks!

Good Evenin' Stockman - well, they say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. (Nobody's ever tried to counterfeit one of MY knives !) I just hope somebody doesn't buy a Chinese Lile, and then try to pass it off, as the real thing !

John - I didn't take it that way at all, buddy. I guess maybe I was doing a little "promo" for the guys down here. There's some great guys, all over everywhere, tho'. Muskrat is gonna be rich and famous someday, and I doubt that he's ever even BEEN to Arkansas ! I'll let you know, first thing, if I ever start another knife.

I don't have one of his yet but a Krein is on my short list.
After poking around the blade forums site, Krein is from AR. he's incredible behind the grinder. I don't think I've seen his equal when it comes to clean, straight grinds.
