This is tragic. He was just now moving his family and business to Chattanooga. Rest In Peace and God bless the family.

Tragic news indeed. He certainly was full of life, and quite enthusiastic about knives. This is the first one I bought from his site, Northwoods bullet jack. May his family find some comfort in knowing that he touched a lot of lives, and may he rest in peace. ::pray::

Terrible news and so unexpected. Derrick so obviously was fascinated by knives and i believe he sincerely wanted every customer to be pleased by every purchase. His weekly newsletter always included a personal note which would give me pause to reflect on my own situation.
Terrible timing for family and friends and KSF employees who i believe were also his friends in that they cared deeply for each other.
I am at a loss for words to express the sadness and loss that i feel.

Never bought a knife from KSF but have seen the web site. Kudos to anyone

that can run a mom and pop business. They are getting more rare each year.

I worked part time at a mom and pop business and it was wonderful. The

customers really appreciated it.

Prayers to his family and friends.

Although I never met or even spoke with him I was impressed that he was a quality person and that his business was also a high quality operation. May his family be strengthened and may he rest now in the Lord's peace.

This knife will serve me as a reminder of him and the contributions he made to our hobby.

I'll never forget when I ordered my first KSF Northwoods knife (a Fremont Jack) from Derrick. He waited a week or so to make sure I had time to check it out and then he sent me an email asking me to keep Dave Shirley in my thoughts when I use the knife. Derrick just wanted to make sure people didn't forget his friend.

If that's not a sign of a good man I don't know what is.

I've spent countless hours on Derrick's website and whether I was buying or just window shopping it always brought me joy. He always struck me as a straight shooter and I always felt comfortable doing business with him and his people. great people which are truly a reflection of him and his character.

I never met Derrick Bohn in person, but I sort of feel like I know him through his various outreach channels to the knife community. I'm surprised by the sense of loss I'm feeling for a person that I really didn't know. I've been watching a few of Derrick's videos today as a remembrance. The video I embedded below is about 15 minutes long so you may not have time or interest to watch it. It is not one of Derrick's short "scripted" videos. Some video bloggers (not knifers) stopped by the KSF facility in April 2018 (i.e., last month) and "interviewed" Derrick about knives.

Wow...what a shock. :( I've bought more than a few knives from Derrick over the years. Looks like he was a relatively young man.
Condolences to his family.

As a tribute to Derrick.....three knives I've owned over the years.

RIP Derrick. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. KSF has always done right by me, almost to a fault. I always respected Derrick's hard work and creativity to be able to make such a huge impact in a very tough market. So sorry for your loss, Bohn Family. In this life we won't know why the Lord called Derrick home so soon.
