Savage Model 1899 Bayonet, mostly

Attached are 2 pictures of a Savage Arms marked sword type bayonet. These are rare as hens teeth and this is obviously not complete. Completing this might be as hard as finding a complete bayonet. These were made for a contract Savage Arms had to supply a Savage Model 1899 Musket to the Montreal Home Guard. Only a few hundred muskets were required. These were chambered in the Savage 303 round since rechambering to the Brit round would have been to time consuming and expensive. This bayonet was recently sold to a collector on another site.

Interesting piece. Good luck with the handle search. The 303 Brit was definitely the better round but having owned a 99 Savage in 303 Savage I can say it would definitely drop a deer [or man] as well as the 30/30 does which has dropped millions [deer].

First I've ever heard of of this one and I've been collecting bayonets for a long time.
Now, I'm gonna be watching for one. Not that I'll be able to afford one.

I'm sure you've googled them by now. With the scabbard, 3K+ with condition. I did forget to note that this would have been the WW I era, early.

It was Arthur Savage's way to achieve Winchester 30-30 performance or slightly better (a 190 gr bullet) without having to put the Winchester name of his rifles. It kills stuff I hear, I've avoided Model 1899's and Model 99's chambered for it. The 300 Savage is much better.

No doubt the 300 is a much better/flatter shooter than the 303 but I couldn't pass up the long Octagon stock and other such items on the 303 I owned.
My favorite 99 was in 358w and still is my favorite. It was my black bear killer.
