Returned from the 'Spirit of Steel' show with a couple of items.
A 64052 Case Congress and a pair of handle scales. (Hey MM, would these work on that trapper you and I were discussing?) Giraffe Bone, I thought I was lookin' at some ivory.
And for joining the NKCA, I got in the show free and received a copy of Gerald Witcher's book 'Counterfeiting Antique Cutlery'. ::ds::

Oh yea, can anyone ID the bone on the congress? Is it Winterbottom? Thanks for any info.
Take care everybody,
Richard

[Edit] - Man, those spots on the shield really show up when you enlarge.

The Case congress is from a series done around 2000-2001. Several colors of grooved bone, very like winterbottom. I have 5-6 of them, and I quite like the look of the bone.
Early last century, Case used a red winterbottom, but it is quite rare!
Here's a very worn, W.R.Case&Sons, Bradford. It's very worn, and one side was hafted down a bit too much, in order to fit it, but, you won't see a lot of these in your lifetime!
The beauty for me is, it's a Harness Jack, rare in itself!!

Thanks guys. It's a fairly well made congress. No blade rub when they fall into the belly of the knife.
Thanks upnorth, I thought it was winterbottom but have never seen that color before. ::shrug::

MM - I'll pack up the trapper and these scales and get them in the mail to you. ::tu:: Work your magic, my friend.
