All About Pocket Knives

I will start by saying, I like knives in their original condition, if at all possible. This knife would not free up and snap, the scale was busted, and the tip of a blade was broken. It has been used and neglected. So, it gets a new start.
I am not an “ex”pert, nor even a “present”pert. I do like to work on knives.
I had some problems with the pivot pin; it will be replaced as soon as I get some different stock.

That turned out great!
It’s nice to see an old knife brought back to life.

This also one of my favorite things, dragging an old knife back from the grave. Turned out great. Wish it was in my pocket right now!!

Pretty neat, was the reason for dropping the secondary blade the broken tip?

What kind of bone did you use? Did you jigged that and dye it yourself? It sure looks good!

I recently picked up a Cattaraugus Barlow #2159. The bone handles on mine are good but I think you're blades are a little fuller than mine. They have really good steel in them too, I have noticed that from a couple of Cattaraugus kitchen knives I have.

I see you didn't use the pen blade, if you don't have plans for it I would like to put it in my Cattaraugus Barlow because I think it's longer than my pen blade is.

OC, thanks. resurrected. It rode in my pocket all day today. Needs an edge, but I enjoyed carrying it.

TF, yes. The broken tip, as well just wanting a single blade. Also, now it looks like I have a blade to trade with Dale.

Dale, I purchased this bone from a knife show. It is jigged and dyed already. I had scaled a fixed blade with it, and these pieces were drops from the end. I have another piece of this if you would like to have it.

Your handles look great. I saw your post yesterday. This is a #2159 as well. The pen blade has the very tip broken, but can easily be reprofiled. You are welcome to it. I will trade it for one of those Schrade blades you are looking for.

As for the steel, I have not sharpened it yet. Hopefully it is good, and will hold an edge. Look forward to carrying this one in my rotation.

Thanks, WB. It has been riding happily in a pocket sheath since receiving the bone scales. We both smile.
