I doubt if anyone has seen this Case pattern number before. My opinion is that it is not a Case knife and is being misrepresented as one. I can't speak to the seller's intent or knife knowledge.

Joel, you are welcome. My first response seemed abrupt and I want to better explain the reasons for my opinion. Please keep in mind that my opinion might be incorrect.

Overall these old knives will have an elegant aesthetic (another opinion) and the proportions of things like bolsters, handles, blades, tangs, etc. will be appealing. The appearance of the knife you asked about is not elegant (another opinion). I annotated the original picture with comments and included some additional pictures of 3 1/4" equal end Case Tested XX era knives for comparison. The 06230 is my knife the others are from a reference book.

Joel, I’ve seen knives like this before. They show up at knife shows every now and then.
Master blade always has Case Tested XX. I’ve never heard of a pattern number.

I believe that the knife is authentic - I have seen that pattern before. I may have even owned one. I have no idea on the pattern number.
