All About Pocket Knives

I have a question concerning wood handles on a fixed blade knife:

I'm currently looking at a Bark River Fixed Blade with wood handles. I know that BR sometimes likes to put "Palm Swells" on their handles which makes the handle a bit wider in the center.

Is it possible for a skilled individual to "Smooth Out" those palm swells without damaging the already finished product?

I don't think this would be hard to do with the exception of matching the finish of the wood if that would be necessary. I am not familiar with the knife so hard to say.

If the wood used is,"stabilized" i.e.: resin impregnated then I don't think grinding off the palm swell slightly would present any problem. However if it is not stabilized wood and just has a surface coating then it may present a problem.

We will see when you get the knife,,, but I do not think
that that one is gonna have a palm swell in the handle...
at least not enough to be a bother in your grip..
at least a few I have held around the same size with their
stag-bone handle and a few wood ones was straight down, no swell...time will tell

I hope you're right. I have smaller size hands so no palm swell would be a plus.
