My Frist Fighting Bulls

Hey Fellow Knife Friends,
Wanted to share a couple of pics of my first Fighting Bulls. Does anyone
know how to tell if they are early ones or not? The toothpick has a S-M
on the tang and is marked queen Titusville PA. The Trapper just says
440a stainless and marked fighting bull hand made. Both say that on the
shields. They are probally to of the best knives I've got.

Those would be the best knives in many, many people's collection. I have a couple and I am very proud of them. Wendell Carson is the maker; he gets the components from major knife companies and puts them all together with his special touch. Mine are both toothpicks, what I mainly collect.
Both of mine are etched with the date and other information of the reverse of the blade. The earlier ones, like yours, are undated. I hope someone will come along and answer your question properly.

SSM, those are two very nice knives, and I'm especially envious of the trapper ! I have 7 of that pattern, and 1 each of 3 other patterns. My guess would be that these are somewhat older knives. All of the newer ones I have are marked only as Wendell's. No date etch on the knives either. That information comes on a COA.
I have no qualms about putting most any of my knives in my pocket. To me, that's what they were made for. I use a couple of my GEC's ( 2007 only) but only
one of Wendell's. That one is a barehead trapper with a lanyard that he made at my request. Collecting
anything is not that much fun unless there's someone to share with. That's what is so great about a forum like this, and pulling out a knife like one of Wendell's
, always starts a conversation !
I'm sure you'll enjoy your new knives, but you're probably hooked !

I beleive the newer ones are 420HC. The older ones are likely Queen Steel.

Don't know how much I can add...except that those do look like two fine knives.
I've had probably 20 or so of Wendell's knives, and have I think 10 right now, and I've enjoyed them all. I'm not sure if there is a set way that he dates his work, as I too have owned knives dated on the blade...dated only on the small certificate, and I have one from 1982 signed and dated on the inner liner. Also, one of my favorites came from Wendell, in a plain box, with no certificate, undated, and marked only with the Queen Big Q...
It does seem like most of the newer knives are coming in a box (several different colors) marked with a snorting bull and Fightin Bull-USA underneath. The box also says established in 1998. But, I'm sure Wendell was doing knives long before that, so maybe that was the official beginning of the Fightin Bull line. Most everything in the last 3-4 years HAS come with a certificate. Many of the knives have not had a shield, but those that do have shields, have been the Fightin Bull like shown above.
For the most part, I like the materials Wendell uses for covers. I have/have had Pearl, Smoked Pearl, Sea Cow, Whale Baleen, several different Jigged Bone models, Sambar Stag, Interior Mammoth Ivory, and Bark Mammoth Ivory. And I may have forgotten 1 or 2...
So, don't know if that was of any interest...but it didn't improve my typing much.

Great knives
It looks like Wendell does very nice work. I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of a stag whittler I bought from him. He is a very nice and helpful bloke.

Thank you for the information I see that they are a lot of folks who are into good knives. My biggest thing is I like to carry and use my knives which
doesn't help on the collector value. But there's nothing finer than a
pocket knife with good metal that will take, hold, and keep an edge.
If one is good a dozen is even better! You just can't have too many.
I'll keep logging in and e-mailing when I have something to contribute.

, now i have 13
. ,...come to think of it, 13's an unlucky number

I am mr Carson's son in law i am the only person mr Carson taught how to make the fightin bull . I am the only one who can rèpair one and i dont make the fightin bull anymore .

My aunt martha jordan created the bull with his head down blowing the ground i turned it into a lack and white scetch and wendell adopted it as the official fightin bull

Would anyone know a way to contact him ? i have gotten hold of a Tourched stag congress of his . Very beautiful and well made knife but it has a few fissures in the stag . Was Curious if should have the handles replaced or just stabilize them somehow if they get worse you can see the 1 in pic , has 2 more on backside . they dont catch nail yet nor seem to be unstable , just wondering if should worry lol . Any help or knowledge would be apperciated .

Guess the knife I have was towards the end then. The Coa has July of 2012 on it. Amazed by the quality of these. Just worried about the fissures on it. Seem ok for now but any advice or knowledge would be appreciated.

Would anyone know how many of the fighting bulls was made ? I know the coa says very limited quantity of each pattern. Was just looking for a little info. Thank you.
