I’m interested in learning more about the 300, 500, and 700 series. I’ve got a few 703’s and a few 503’s, and a couple 303’s in the works. I’m also hoping to land a nice 501 (or 2) as well.

Can you guys tell me more and show me how these knives compare to the others in their respective series? Pics would be greatly appreciated.

I'm a fan of the 703 and the 700 series in general.

The 703 was produced from late 1979-2001 if I'm not mistaken. Early models had two backsprings but Buck switched to three backsprings in mid 1986. When they made the switch they also switched positions of the Spey and Sheepsfoot blades.

Here are two 703's. Both are from 1986. The top one is a two spring and the bottom one is a three spring.

Mad, welcome to the forum. Learning about the 300, 500, and 700 series should keep you busy for quite a few years. The attached photo shows some of the 300 Series, from top to bottom: 305 Lancer, 309 Companion, 303 Cadet, 312 Mini Trapper, 313 Muskrat, 301 Stockman, 311 Slim Trapper, 307 Wrangler, and 314 Trapper. There are other models not included in this photo, and of course there are variations for each model.

I just picked up this 532+ today for $20 on the letgo app, wondering if it’s a good deal & what the knife is worth. Has matching sheath with 532 #’s on it almost perfect condition.
