Unidentified Bowie

Another of my recent finds, this spear point Bowie has a hand ground blade, with a very well made handle of Walnut and cast brass. It's 12" overall, with a 7 1/4" blade. I suspect there was a silver inset in the grip at one time.
Any idea of Country of origin? I thought Walnut may suggest U.K or U.S.A?
