All About Pocket Knives

I just started feeling better this week after fighting off a couple of viruses. Even with a space heater the basement gets pretty cold at this time of year.
While this knife is far from perfect I think its good enough for a trip to E-Bay.
The new bone handles from Culpeppers are called Sunset (smooth). The blades had some heavy grinder marks in them, I managed to polish most of them out but a few remain. And I couldn't quite get the pivot pins to fill in the holes. I could have re-drilled the holes a bit larger but I opted to leave it be.
It'll make a nice EDC for someone and since I only need to get $20 for it it should be an easy sell. So far each knife I've worked on has been a lesson. I had this one apart a couple of times for various reasons. Learned a few things about working with smooth bone. The smell when working with bone reminds me of the smell I get at the dentist office when he's prepping one of my teeth for a crown (or root canal). Surprisingly I don't find it all that offensive. I did by a better particle respirator mask though to keep the dust out of my lungs.
Onward to the next knife.

You did a nice job on that but if my math is correct you're going to go broke selling knives for $20 that you have put Culpepper bone on. Good luck - I hope you do well on it.

We’ll see if it does well on E-bay. If it doesn’t sell it can always sit on my shelf, it doesn’t take much room and if it sits there long enough I may even rework those pivot pins!
I bought a decent size parcel of different bone handles from Culpepper. A lot of sale items and a large enough order to get free shipping so the cost isn’t too prohibitive for me.

I used a file to shape the bone and it worked pretty well. I need to modify my file edges though, they’re causing problems. I’m guessing I can just grind the edges smooth?
Hopefully once Ive worked through the initial $100 of bone that I purchased, I’ll have a pretty good understanding of how to work with it.

I use a belt sander to make one side of a file safe. That's very common when doing file work on back springs.
If you sand one side of a 3 Square file smooth then you have a safe side to the file.
