Ken suggested I also put this over on this forum, so here it goes:

Just got a Case Stag 5332 from ebay with 2 blades having very shallow nail nicks.
The main blade has a decent nick allowing easy opening. The other 2 blades cannot
be opened with your nail ( or nail tool). The nicks are very shallow and small in length.
I know part of the problem with these nicks is the knife was over buffed. The main
blade was over buffed also but the nail nick seems to be normal.

What tool would you use to deepen the nick? Maybe it should be left to the
experts only. I have a Dremel but do not want to ruin the blades.

I wrote to Case but have not heard from them.

Have any of you knife mechanics done this work?

The picture may show you how the shallow and small nicks.

Looking forward to your opinions.............

Bob

find someone who is set up to cut nailnicks (think a custom slipjoint maker) someone will a mill and a carbide dovetail cutter can recut the nicks deeper and they will look fairly factory if you darken them in. Any other option could come out looking less than satisfactory.
