Wow! Very nice Derrick! Very nice.

What wood(?) are the scales/slabs made of?

Beyond rehandling them, did BRKT do anything else to them? Fallknivens are already convexed, are they not?

They are a stabilized elder burl. they are injected with a colored epoxy to make them stronger and cool color.

Bark River doesn't touch the rest of the knife--they just tape the blade up to be able to work with it--they are already convex.

The epoxy sure worked Derrick, because they are very cool looking!

The bottom one is 10x better in person. I couldn't capture the depth of color in the picture.

OKBohn:
Those are truly gorgeous handles and knives. My Dad was from your part of the country and I heard him talking about elder but I have never seen an example of its product before. We have here in Or. an elderberry which is not even similiar. Here is a link to elder that I found should anyone want to see, the burls are close to the end.
