All About Pocket Knives

Ok, so I'm up at an early 5 am and off to the flea market this morning, got there while it was still dark. I walked around and bought about 1/2 dozen junkers for parts or repair when I come to the next booth.

No sooner than I walk up he slaps down a roll of knives on the table I ended up buying roll and all one of the knives was a Case redbone muskrat bladed trapper, which made me smile, then after we get done dealing on those he pulls out a small box of knives and plopped them down in front of me. He says "see if there's anything in there you can use, they're $1 each" Well I pick out about 5 that I could use. One of which was a pen knife I really liked and had pretty handles on it but there was some light surface rust hiding the tang stamp from me, but for $1 I figured why not? So I bought them, finished my rounds and came home. Some oil and OOOO steel wool revealed the tang stamp, and I nearly fell over when I read it. WR Case and Sons, Bradford PA . A bradford pen knife with 98%+ full blades for $1, yep I'm on cloud 9.




It'll take me a while to beat this one.

Congrats MM, that looks like a great find.
You should be honest with yourself however.
After you add in the egg Mcmuffin and large coffee
along with the gas expense divided by total number of knives,
you may have as much as $1.98-2.14 in that rascal !

I do think being able to say "the early bird gets the Pen Prize"
sound better than just getting a worm.

I think this is second cut stag? or is it just some wierd colored bone I've never seen before?

I haven't had a chance to photo the rest , most needed work, only 2 cases, the WR case and the trapper. The trapper was pretty rough, blades were full but really rusty, the back handle needed three patches but I think it looks presentable.

Kaleb's find of the century and his pride of his collection Flea Market finds
convinced me to give our local flea market another chance.
Today seemed appropriate since I woke up at 6am for no apparent reason. I just let intuition guide me to where to start, I knew I couldn't walk the umpteen acres this place has gobbled up. Headed down row #7 and just a few tables down found a seller that had a few knives. Pick of the litter were two unused Camillus. Since I have none, I looked them over and liked both. We met in the midddle and they came home for $15 ea. Friendly guy and looks like he might be a source for more down the road, so a nice chance meeting. Looked around about another hour, but looks like I was led straight to where I needed to be.

As I mentioned, these are my first two Camillus. Any info offered on these two will be appreciated. Particularly indication of age.
First is a 707 2-blade lockback with serrated secondary & delrin handles in amber or tobacco color. 3.75 in OALc. I'm not even sure what to call this one. part lockback, part trapper, part mid folding hunter !
Second is a wood handled 884 Lrg. Stockman. Quite similar to the current rosewood Case 6375. The Camillus may be walnut though. What ya think MM?

I like your philosophy, but it does have one stipulation I'd like to add.

And it's EZ to find the Flea Market. Just go out passed the ole MaGillicuty Place, take the left fork after the pasture with that big ugly crooked horn bull standing by the fence watching cars go by. After the mailbox on the left with the Christmas tree lights still onit, go 27 telephone poles farther and you're there. Almost.

Awww, come'on, ya'll.
It's that same fork in the road where Judge Franklin's son
didn't fork at all, but went straight 300yds and ran that Camaro his dad bought him smack dab into Mr Griffin's gang mowers he left parked there overnight. Shredded that car pretty bad as I recollect.
Now remember, if you run up on that ole Sunoco station that Dutchman & his wife bought & converted into a windmill, you gone too far. Need to turn around and come back thisaway about 15-18 telephone poles.

There's the problem ! There are Dutchman in the neighborhood, and you probably got those directions in Pa. Dutch, with all the verbs in strange places.

Must be near Bergstresser's General Store, AKA Bergy's Mall, at the crossroad in downtown Wassergass ! And....as you can plainly see, it's an Atlantic station.
