The question is the tang stamps. The small blade dates 1914 to 1920. The larger blade dates 1920 to 1940. The knife is green bone. Why does this knife have different tang stamps? Could case company have possibly put these blades in like that in 1920? There is no pattern number on either blade.

If anyone has any info on this knife please share it with me. I need to know if this knife may have came this way or if the big blade was changed at some point.

Ringo,
Happened to be bouncing around in this forum and saw no one got back with you on your question. I think the two tang marks indicate a transition knife. Case was using up blades after they changed the tang stamp to the one on the main blade. In any case this post will bring it back up and maybe someone more qualified can provide a better assessment. The 31 frame is one of my favorites.

I would like to see a picture of the entire knife along with close ups of the tang stamps. From what I can see of the bone it really does not look like Case bone and not really crazy about the Case Tested main blade stamp. Of course the pictures requested will bring more to light.
Thanks,
Tom
