Case RatCliffe experiment - current lineup

Postby Lansky1 » Sat Nov 25, 2017 3:09 am

Well, I've been a bit carried away with the Case Ratcliffe mod as of late (as you can see below) ... the muskrat blade sets up well for this mod & I really dig it. For what I do with a knife, it has to have either a sheepsfoot or wharncliffe, so I find I'm gravitating to the Ratcliffe's quite a bit lately (the clip blade makes a great fish filleting knife). I'd be curious to hear some thoughts or opinions on this mod, pro or con ::tu:: ...

I like it! So those Wharncliffe blades started out as Clip blades? Great work!

I think it is a wonderful idea, and what a great name for them.
I ride rat bikes, look at rat rods, own 7 rat dogs (Presas) live in a rat house (1978 modular home), and live in a rat county (made up entirely of old worn out bits).
Now it's RatCliffe bound... Up-Up, and awayyyyyy! ::facepalm::

Two questions...
Did you mod them?
How is the nail nic dealt with?

yep, I modded them - pretty simple actually ... used a disk sander, file and emery cloth. The nail nick is no problem as it's on opposite sides. There's enough meat above the nail nick so it doesn't have to be modded.

Well sir... ::not_worthy:: ::clapping:: ::clapping:: ::clapping::

What a great idea, and execution. I think I would stamp something on the knife to ID it down the road. Before you know it FleaBay will be awash in "Original RatCliffe" knives.

What a wonderful way to make a nice knife into what it could have been all along. ::nod::
