This is a great larger pen knife.
With the judicious use of the ever effective catch bit a very long main blade is available. What an advantage this is.

It is indeed a beauty Joe; you will never regret the purchase. I lusted after it but it but couldn't justify going over $80. Thank Roland (kj) too; it was his knife consigned to Barry.

If it came from 'Barry' on ebay then it was my knife. It came from Helga Kayser in Solingen in the mid 1970's. She was the last surviving member of the C.F.Kayser family and was selling off the family's knives many of which were sales samples.

I once had about 200 of the CFK sample knives, all never used but many have 'spiders'. Quite a few were made in late 1890's to about 1910 (ish). What always 'moved' me was that i could have in my hand a knife exactly like a German person would have handled as he looked at knives in a cutlery store one hundred or more years ago. Same of course applies to any minty vintage knife.
CFK made more knives under contract than those marked with their own name. I think contracting out among Solingen knife manufacturers has been a common practice going back to early 1900. Many of these knives are marked only with old inked on numbers, others are stamped "C.F.Kayser" and others are marked with various Solingen names like "Dittmar Heilbronn", "Ant. Wingen", etc.
I thought i would never sell this 'mini-collection' but eventually each of us comes to realize you can't take it with you so get it into other hands while you you are still able.
I still have a few of the best ones and some of the advertising ones (mostly for S.American market).
You will see a few "C.F.Kayser" knives on ebay that look quite modern such as a Stockman with cell handles, etc. C.F.Kayser really did not make knives after WW II. I think some C.F.Kayser marked blades were found and put into knives, i.e. probably fakes.

Nice knives, Joe. I have seen blades like the one on the second knife, but have never (to my recollection) heard what exactly the purpose of the long tang with the sharpened area is for?

For lack of any better guesses I think it could be a picnic knife for cutting that ubiquitous sausage and a cigar cutter so you don't get any tabakky in your bratwurst.

While I love both Bratwurst, and cigars... I would have thought that would be a wire stripper or a wire cutter if you clamp the wire between that section, and the handle.

At least that is what I would use it for if it were not such a beauty.

Another great one Joe. I was also in the running but again I couldn't make it over the finish line. Once again see self-kicking apparatus above.

Hi Dennis, I have these three that are in this thread. I feel very fortunate to have them.
They are in beautiful condition, as you can see.

They are beautiful indeed. That Roland sure has the eye for fine pocketknives. I've been doing some direct purchases from him and he is a real gentleman and a pleasure to work with.

This is a 3" four blade Senator, all blades marked "Huser". There is a very faint sample # on the front side of master blade. Beautiful knife, from late 1800's to early 1900's by C.F.Kayser, i believe.
The carved pearl is difficult to photograph well.
