I was sitting at my computer yesterday, taking a break from my cabinetmaking when I heard both the dogs barking their heads off. That's always a signal that someone's coming up our hill, and we're the only one on this road. So, I knew they were coming to see me. I listened for a knock on the back door, but one never came. So, a few minutes later, I went out to the shop and much to my surprise and utter delight were two monster elk sheds. One a seven point, the other a six point....and a seperate piece about 24" long. The two complete sheds have some of the most magnificent texture and character I've ever seen. Absolutely magnificent! Talk about some stag possibilities! WOW! ::ds::

I looked them over for half an hour, like a monkey looking at a football, imagining all the different angles I could or should cut. There are some wonderful slabs to be taken from these. ::drool::

I called a good friend of mine who recently gave me a armload of sheds, thinking it was he who had brought them by, but he denied it. So, I owe someone a very nice knife hafted in the finest piece of elk I can find in this bonanza. ::tu::

I feel very honored.

By the way, if any of you guys have any use for the "crowns" off these sheds, please, by all means, PM me and you are more than welcome to them. I now have four or five of them. IIRC, one is slightly over 3 1/2" in diameter. Big enough for a belt buckle. ::nod::

Wow, congratulations, dewman!

I'd sure love to see some pics of what you make out of it!
