Nice tiger striped maple

I know this doesn't qualify as a "handmade knife". I bought the blank. But, I did apply the tiger stripped maple handles. I thought the grain most attractive. As any of you that have seen some nice fiddleback maple know, the photo just doesn't do it justice. It absolutely dances in the sun. I still have some coats of wax to put on it, so it will continue to grow in "glow". I was lucky in the fact that I was able to snag over 30 board feet of this beautiful stuff.

Also pictured is a smaller Bowie (8" blade) that has toasted elk antler scales.

Nothing simpler than a pencil-tip propane torch. I always toast them BEFORE installing them as they tend to warp sometimes. That way, if they "rock" on the tang, I can sand them flat again with a piece of 80 grit sandpaper placed on by tablesaw top.

Dewman those are really nice. Are you going to make a sheath, or buy one? I was looking at the Jack Mosher sheaths with the basket weave. They are also very nicely made. ::tu:: ::tu:: ::tu::
